A Systemic Multi-Agency Action Learning Programme for Stoke-on-Trent Safeguarding Children Board (2012-14)

This multi-agency action learning programme was part of the City of Stoke-on-Trent’s response to the Munro Review of Child Protection, 2011. The programme, commissioned by the Safeguarding Children Board, invited a cross-disciplinary group of professionals and their leaders to learn and work together. Key features of the programme included: a co-initiating event to generate a shared vision and outcomes for the programme; two multi-agency action learning sets for supervisors of front line practice; a Champions’ Group for strategic managers from the key agencies; and facilitator training to build internal capability to run action learning sets and reflective case discussions. Key learning and methods were shared at a regional Munro Demonstrator event in July 2013, and at a January 2014 ‘Solution Space’ event for professionals following a learning review on a complex child sexual exploitation case.
